Offers
a variety of shops in an historic village setting on Rt. 24 just east of
Rt. 206 in Morris County. There are a number of restaurants in town and
parks nearby. A newer (newer to me, though it's probably been there ten
years by now) strip mall is located just south of the village as well.
Flemington
Well known
far and wide for the myriad of factory outlets located here, there are
also a number of shops and attractions in the center of town located just
north of the Flemington Circle where Routes 202, 31 and 12 meet.
Lambertville
A small
village on the Delaware, perhaps best known for being overlooked in haste on the way to New
Hope across the river in Pennsylvania. It's certainly worth stopping here for an afternoon of browsing in conjunction
with a trip to New Hope.
Morristown
The "Green"
is the focal point of this city, with most of the shopping located in the
surrounding blocks. Route 287 is the high-speed commuter route from Monday
to Friday, but your weekend exploring preference will be the older
two-lane Route 202; that will take you past Jockey Hollow on your way in
from Bernardsville.
New
Brunswick
As a home for both
Johnson & Johnson and Rutgers University, the variety of dress and
ages of the people strolling down the sidewalks is a major study in
contrasts. The shops and restaurants offer an equally diverse selection
ranging from sub sandwiches to top of the line full course dining. You'll
want to consider entering or leaving via Route 27 through Highland Park,
which also has a number of interesting shops.
