How to Land the Job
There are a limited number of local resources on the Net with summer job listings - with some listed below - but landing a summer job at the Jersey Shore is probably going to entail some good old fashioned foot work.

Boardwalks/Beaches

There are thousands of other smaller arcades, concession stands, and games of chance located on all the boardwalk towns along the shore. Their overall hiring numbers on an individual basis are going to be necessarily smaller and may not warrant the creation of specialized online resources. To get these jobs in the location of your preference, your best bet is going there on the weekends in the early spring and looking for help wanted placards in the windows or talking to the owner/managers on the premises getting ready for the season. The following general classified listings will include both shore related employment and other more traditional jobs throughout the region.

Inland Possibilities

All of the shore jobs are hard work, but working in the midst of all the summer action can be great fun as well. College students will likely want to share a rental and perhaps even find jobs in the same place - making schedule changes for a date or other activity is easier among friends. High School students will probably already live locally or be fortunate enough to have a season long rental with their family, either way the summer job brings in some cash and gets them out of the house!

Summer jobs sound fun, but you're more interested in getting a jump-start on your future career? Think about a summer internship in the field of your choice - see the career resources index below. One last planning related resource for the high school student - the guidance department at the Haddonfield Memorial High School put together a nice career planning Web site that's worth a look.

As in the best rentals, the best jobs will go to the early bird - waiting until the season starts is simply not an option.

Best of luck in landing the right summer job for you.
