Though October still offers a number of good beach days, sunbathing in November is almost always nonexistent; this is as it should be, the variety offered by our four seasons is one of the attractions of living in New Jersey. After all, without winter we could never have that first beach day of the season next March or April.

If the winter is unusually harsh, or gets too depressing, there's always the Snowbird Safari down Interstate 95 or a flight out of Newark or Philadelphia for a quick respite from the weather. The majority of us will stick it out though, and here are some selected events and activities, mostly indoor, to keep the doldrums away:
