-
Find a flat wooden slat about one
inch wide.
(pieces of weathered dune or snow fence are perfect)
-
Cut to length, a foot long is good.

-
Drill a quarter-inch diameter hole
a half-inch from one end.
-
String a loop of twine through the
hole for hanging.
-
Gather ten to twelve small shells
together.
-
Dry arrange the shells evenly along
the slat to your satisfaction.
-
Glue them down with clear adhesive
from a hot melt glue gun.
-
Hang the new creation up from a
window rod or even a door knob.
Tips:
-
Adult supervision is required when
using the hot melt glue gun - which sets fast for immediate completion, but
the older kids can work alone, based on your judgment, if regular bottled glue is used.
-
Bits and pieces of shell can be
used to spell out names or signs on wider slats.
-
Get creative, make a 8-1/2 x 11"
open frame with magnets glued to the back to hold the kids artwork on the
refrigerator.
